No Need to Raise Your Hand, Ask Away!
Here’s a list of questions that we hear most often. Feel free to contact us if you have specific questions about the event you’re planning.
Q – Where do your animals come from?
A – All over the world! But seriously, most of our animals were rescued locally and throughout Georgia. Occasionally, we’ll purchase animals at reptiles and amphibian at special events, but we prefer to adopt rescues.
Q – I thought only dogs and cats could be adopted?
A – You would be surprised. Most people purchase amphibians and reptiles with the best of intentions, but maintaining a healthy environment for exotic animals is a full-time job. It takes a lot more than making sure an animal gets fed every day to keep them healthy and happy.
Q – What kind of animals do you have and how many will you bring with you?
A – While we have many animals in our collection, unfortunately, we can’t bring them all. So we usually bring around 15 animals to each event…and we’ll always bring a diverse mix of amphibians, reptiles, arachnids, insects and mammals. Click here for more information on all of our animals.
Q – Do we get to pick the animals that are brought to our event?
A – We try not to overwork our animals, so we pick the animals for each program. If you have a special request, we will do our best to accommodate you, though.
Q – Have you ever had an accident involving an animal and a child?
A – Nope, never! Our animals are used to being in the spotlight. In addition to their comfort level with human interaction, we have extensive experience handling animals and providing instruction to children on how to safely handle our animals.
Q – Is it possible to hold a program outside?
A – Of course, we love the outdoors! However, our reptiles prefer warm weather, so the temperature must be at least 60 degrees. Most of our animals are okay with Georgia summer scorchers, too, but certain mammals won’t be able to attend if the mercury gets too high as they are partial to milder climates.
Q – Is there a limit the number of children at each program?
A – No, we never put a limit on the number of private party or school event attendees. Keep in mind there isn’t as much time for the children to touch the animals with large groups, though.
Q – Do you have insurance?
A – Yes, we are fully insured.
Q – Who will host my program?
A – Zoologist, Jim Nark hosts all programs. Click here to meet Jim.
Q – How much room do you need?
A – As much as possible. It’s important that all of the children aren’t bunched up in a small area. It will make for a much more enjoyable program for all of the children if we have plenty of room to walk around to give all attendees to see and touch each animal.
